Ichiyo Taguchi is a designer born in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. She obtained her PhD in Fashion Design and Pattern Making from Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale. After interning at Chloe and Courrèges, she gained three years of experience at the Haute Couture house Elsa Schiaparelli under the direction of designers Bertrand Guyon and later Daniel Roseberry. In January 2020, her mother was diagnosed with cancer, and she stopped all her activities in Paris and returned to Japan. It was time to choose her future. After losing her beloved mother, she seized the opportunity and decided to establish her own brand, "ichiyo", and returned to Paris. Her brand "ichiyo" was born as a statement through the designer's vision of femininity. Her collections express a defiant and courageous attitude towards being a woman, using textures, details and layers. While using pastel colors as her base, she is inspired by a variety of colors and creates clever layers using a wide variety of materials. Interweaving couture tailoring and lingerie techniques, each shape that "Ichiyo" creates is designed to adapt to and embrace the bodies of many women. The final silhouette she creates is fresh, contemporary, and full of joy, and is a part of women's daily lives.
